     Green tea may help weight loss by inhibiting fatty acid synthase of the body. Fatty acid synthase (EC 2. 3. 1. 85, abbr. FAS) is reported as a potential new therapeutic target for the treatment of obesity. 17 of 31 Traditional Chinese Medicine used in weight reducing prescriptions were found to inhibit FAS. Green tea leaf was 1 of the top 4 herbs with high inhibitory potencies.

     How does green tea help weight loss?The clinical trial study the green tea's benefits concluded: Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se. The green tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both.
